Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
(Wondering how many times the word "love" will be mentioned in this;)Feel free to count!)
I'm inspired to write to you all because of conversations I have had with numerous people on the topic of love. Some have been greatly inspiring and others...well greatly confusing or frustrating. Yep, it has come up quite a few times in the past couple of weeks. You guys know I write what is laid on my heart...and it's pretty apparent this is a hot topic now! :) Read the passage above and place your name in place of "love." Now...how many of those sentences would be true about yourself? For example, "Tiffane is patient and kind. She is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude..." Catch my drift? I have done this several times when I read this passage, let me tell you, somedays I have a whole lot of love:) and other days not so much. If you pay close attention to this passge you will see that this kind of love is not just romantic and reserved for those luck (or not so lucky) people that have a significant other. It is the calling of God's people to be love on this earth. Love is not just reserved for the guy/girl that will someday take you hand in covenant, but for every single person you come in contact with. Granted there are different kinds of love, but Godly love, is what we are called to give endlessly. So...what do you give out?
Now for my sweet people who are in relationships; let's chat. Would your partner be able to answer you honestly and tell you that you are a true source of Godly love? Or are you in need of a tune-up? I believe the hardest thing about relationships that are forming in our day and age is that so many people neglect to be honest with themselves about how they are growing in love and in the Lord, and they neglect to consider the well being of that person. That's like constantly building a bridge day after day in the intense heat, only to find in burning down because you have no source of water. If you love, you will not only want the well being of your other, you will be the best you can be because you know you will be a blessing from the Lord to them. God has to be in control and He has to have His hand over it, holding you both and guiding you to love in the way He does. So to all my betrothed and beloved friends...let God write your love story:)
I love the fact that God is our ultimate source of all that is love. Because He is love.
Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:7-8
...God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect... 1 John 4:16-17
