Okay so time for a confession: I am so incredibly obsessed with Christmas music. And when it's David Archuleta singing it...well let's just say my family will be hearing Christmas music for the next three months:) His new album is FABULOUS people, go buy it...now.
So I'm sitting in my kitchen at the table, windows open because it is gorgeous outside, and really putting off some math I need to tackle at some point today. But when I feel a need to write, I have to obey, because the best things come at God's timing:)
"O come all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant..."
"Joy to the world, the Lord has come..."
JOY. Those two songs send out a message loud and clear, a message that we shouldn't only consider at Christmastime. You see there is a shady difference between having joy and obtaining happiness. These are two very different things. Think about the story of Paul and Silas...I love this. In Acts 16 these two men were thrown in jail, stripped and beaten. Aften being beaten, they were put in a cell and their feet were fastened with stocks. Did they weep? Did they grumble, argue or fight back? No. The Bible says that, "At about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God..." (16:25). Singing and praying to God...in the middle of a jail cell, while they were innocent, and severely bruised from the beating they received. I do not consider that happiness, beacuse happiness can pass as fast as the second hand on a clock. These men had JOY. True joy. Joy is not only having a heart filled with the love of Jesus, but it's wanting to praise God in your storms and in your trials. You're not doing it because you feel like you have to, it's a need, a want to praise Christ's Holy Name. Your love will shine with your joy. And that is a beautiful picture.
Have a great Monday!!
